D.A.D. Self-Powered CT Temperature Sensor
CT Sensor is mounted on the surface of the part required to measure its temperature. We incorporated wireless technology with the thermistor to develop a temperature sensor to transmit the data collected without the need for wiring. We have developed 2 types of CT Sensors:
– CT Sensors
– CT Sensors with Batteries

How It Works:
1. The thermistor is embedded into an insulator with a wrist-like strap which looks like a cable tie that can be used to tie around the desired surface to measure the temperature.
2. The CT sensor uses eddy current induction to power itself when there is current running through. For areas which do not have current running through, battery operated CT sensors can be used instead.
3. After the CT sensor is turned on, it will transmit data wirelessly collected to a controller. The wireless range can be from 30m to 200m.
4. The controller upon receiving the data can display the results on the display or transmit via RS-485 Modbus to different platforms.
For the CT sensor that draws its power from eddy current, its application is mostly in power panels, switchgear panels, MCC panels, bus ducts or cable bus, high voltage cables and more. Its main requirement is that the surface being measured must carry current. Whereas the CT sensor with its own battery can be used on nearly every surface that it can be tied to, except conductors that have voltage or current.
